OUGD404: STUDY TASK 2 - The Birth of a Font

Prior to Freds session we were asked to bring in ABC upper and lower case of Roman, Gothic, Script and Bold.

For the task we had to cut out each individual letter into its parts, i.e. stem, bowl etc. Then using the parts create multiple variations of the fonts. Below is the letters which i created:

From the letterforms i had to pick five which i thought were the most legible and readable and create an uppercase ABC XYZ and a lowercase abc xyz. Here are the five fonts which i picked:

 

I started by developing my ideas on illustrator, I found it a much quicker way of getting the initial design of each letter. Baring in mind these are just rough copies so some letters are of a low quality.
