OUGD406: InDesign

For the InDesign brief we were given an animal to research and produce a double page spread for. I was given the Beaver. (Research on my Context of Practice).

Here are some ideas i started with. I liked the idea of looking at the anatomy of a beaver, so i started designing.

After looking at different animal page spreads I decided I'd stick with just giving a brief overview of the two beavers, the American beaver and the European beaver. I didn't like the glossy, high definition images and double page spreads of the animal spreads I'd looked at so i decided to change the style completely. The beaver reminded me of wind in the willows and after looking at some old style images and books I decided that I'd design the spread in an old book style, this meant using an old San serif font and sketchy illustrations.

I found a font named Oldstyle which fit with the theme perfectly:
