OUGD503: Studio brief 1 - Effect development

I mind mapped some ideas of what printed material I should make, the audience, the tone of voice, the purpose, and the promotion:

I've decided that I want to hold Effect stands at freshest events. It is aimed at students, so giving out free samples and goody bags at freshers events is a great way to grab attention, raise awareness and to allow people to try the drink.

I thought about handing goody bags which could include:

>The bags themselves
>Coasters
>Leaflet
>keyring
>Poster
>Free samples
>Vouchers
>Pens

As well as having stands at fresher fairs, I would raise awareness by creating a small campaign which features a set of posters. The posters would be of well known people and would play on the fact that 'Effect' spurs on your creativity.

The posters are going to be of a spilt can and the liquid forming into different words or pictures. I took this idea on to see what I could produce:

I started by having the liquid which was pouring out in the shape of little icons which represent creativity etc. So paintbrushes, scissors, canvas, paint bucket...

After drawing it by hand I fine lined it and scanned it into the computer:

I played around with different colours to see what was working best:

I decided to go with this design:. I added a can into it and the effect slogan at the bottom:
