OUGD505: Studio brief 1 - Development

After the critique I took my feedback on board and used it to develop my book. I also remade my packaging and made it more neat and professional.

So for the main page, I changed the font and made the imagery less busy and more simple. I felt like the old cover had too much going on, and the lines were very chunky which I really wasn't feeling. Instead of round dots as stars I added actual stars and coloured some of them which added more of a space feeling.

The content page I kept pretty much the same.

I improved the content on each page, and made it acceptable for children. For the introduction page I improved the illustration, I felt it was more appropriate and worked really well. Again I kept the illustrations simple and easy to understand.

For the Moon Phases page I edited a few typos and decreased the size of the diagram so it fit more evenly on the page.

Here I changed the layout and updated the illustrations.

This page was originally the second page, but I used an actual photograph, which really didn't fit and was brought up in the crit. Here I tried to make the page more relatable to the rest of the book. I added a rocket and an alien space ship for something extra for the kids to spot and take an interest in.

This page was kept the same, a few typos were amended.

Here I added more starts in the sky and made the earth larger.

For this page I created the moon into a spaceship, where as previously I hadn't done anything with the moon.
