OUGD406: Design is About Doing: Secret 7"

My chosen artist for Secret 7 was Public Enemy and their track Harder Than You Think.

I based my design around the instrumental of the song, a sample taken 'Jezahel' by Shurley Bassey.

We had to design five different sleeves to take into the crit.

I illustrated images of a trumpet and used this to base my ideas around. From the crit. the sleeve including Shirley Bassey was the favoUred one. I decided to develop this idea.

As PubliC Enemy are a hip hop group i wanted to add an element of street art and hip hop culture into my design so i decided to make the image very cut and paste, adding a stencil effect so it looked pray painted.

Below is my final design:

I added a bitmap onto the image because it gave it that cut and paste grungey element. I left the rough edges because it added to the urban/ street style.
