We then, individually drew out a flow diagram of how our pages would work, and how they'd link together. I haven't yet decided upon an idea so I picked generic web pages to work with.
For preparatory for the lesson we were asked to bring in five different websites which we thought were aesthetically pleasing. At the end of the class we were asked to draw grids onto them and asked how we thought the structure helped the design:
The structure for this website shows a three way grid. I think this benefits the simplicity and the suave style of the design. The colours are very minimal, not something which I'm looking to involve in my work but definitely the simplicity.
This website is for a coding agency in Australia. The monotone colours work very well, it's very simple. The gridding doesn't actually benefit this design I don't think, everything is quite central. I think the navigation bar could be more evenly spaced.
I chose this design as its a Japanese clothes website. Gridding definitely benefits this design as navigation for this website is crucial. The images are evenly spaced, the navigation bar is easy to read and use.
Another very minimal design, but everything is evenly spaced and set out professionally. The gridding is definitely beneficial for this design.
This website has a four grid layout, as images are use its vital for grids to give them even space. The navigation bar at the bottom is easily accessable and easy to use. This site is very neat and professionally laid out.
